For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age. – Titus 2:11-12
In 2019, God gripped my heart through my watching of the documentary “American Gospel.” My theology was flipped on it’s head. I was convicted, humbled, wrecked.
Being a woman who has always had a deep passion for the Truth: God’s Word, I started studying Reformed Theology and Apologetics.
The more I got out of the false ME-CENTERED “gospel” and into the ACTUAL Word of God, I was further wrecked by the pride I had carried and encouraged for so many years based on weak and essentially wrong theology.
I have accepted the beliefs of The Five Solas, which states:
  1. Sola Scriptura (“Scripture alone”): The Bible alone is our highest authority.
  2. Sola Fide (“faith alone”): We are saved through faith alone in Jesus Christ.
  3. Sola Gratia (“grace alone”): We are saved by the grace of God alone.
  4. Solus Christus (“Christ alone”): Jesus Christ alone is our Lord, Savior, and King. Yes, I do believe in the Triune God: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
  5. Soli Deo Gloria (“to the glory of God alone”): We live for the glory of God alone.
Having grown up in the church and gone off to Bible College, marrying a preacher, and doing both part-time and full-time ministry for over a decade I have witnessed the shallow teaching for Christian women to ultimately be focused on SELF and not on Christ.
Not all of these Christian influencers and teachers, authors and public figures will come out and say that it’s ME CENTERED but the subjects and themes of their messages are SELF-FOCUSED, SELF-SEEKING, SELF-PROCLAIMING, and SELF-VALIDATING.
The Bible is incredibly clear that in order to follow Jesus we MUST die to self, picking up the instrument of death (our cross), and follow Him.
SELF-LOVE is not Biblical. Self is what pushes us away from Holiness. Self is destructive. Our hearts are wicked and deceitful. We must put off self and put on Jesus. We must be BOLD and BRAVE in our faith and not live like women of the world live – entertaining ourselves in the very things that Jesus hates and died for on the Cross.
I believe STRONGLY in encouraging women to reject self-love culture, that has infiltrated the American Christian culture, and Live in the way that the Bible commands believers to live.
This is God’s Word that I am grateful to speak and encourage into Christian women’s lives and hearts.
I want to be a woman who dies to self daily, puts on my new self in Jesus Christ and give my life to follow Him fully in Holiness – repenting when I fall and I will fall, continuing on the very unpopular narrow road of true Biblical Christianity.
My purpose is to obey the Lord and bring Him glory. I love Jesus, He is my Lord and Savior, and may I act accordingly – in private and in public.
with love, Jilly
