A Pink Dress & A Fiery Furnace

Happy Day Ladies!!

How are you? Like, really?

The world seems much crazier than it ever has before and it’s incredibly easy to start feeling the weight of all the chaos but I want to encourage you today from the book of Daniel.

Got your Bible?

If not, go get it. NEVER take anyone’s word about the WORD. Go to it directly yourself as well and make sure the verses line up. 🙂

Before we jump into God’s Word let me tell you about this darling outfit I wore to church.

The dress and hat are from Target. Curvy ladies, it’s a 1X. Target’s PlusSize section is getting better and better.

Are you a woman who enjoys wearing hats? I definitely am!

Okay, back to Scripture.

Turn with me to Daniel 3.

Let’s set the stage quickly.

Babylon: King Nebuchadnezzar is in charge and has made a golden image 60 cubits high (90 feet) by 6 cubits wide (9 feet). This idol was one REALLY huge beast.

So, King Neb summed everyone of all languages to come fall down and worship the idol. But there were Jews there who had been put in charge of the affairs of the province of Babylon (vs.12) and they did NOT worship any of the Babylon gods and definitely did not bow down to worship the mega idol.

This threw King Neb into a furious rage. He summed the three Jewish men: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and threatened to throw them into a blazing furnace if they didn’t bow down and worship the gold idol.

vs.15 “Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?”

I love that line because oooo…is he about to see!!!

This is what Shad, Mesh, and Abed replied: “We do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and He will deliver us from your Majesty’s hand. But even if He does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”

To sum up this AMAZING story: King Neb threw the men into the furnace. It was so hot because King Neb ordered it be heated 7times hotter than usual. The flames killed Neb’s soldiers who threw Shad, Mesh, and Abed into the furnace. BUT THEN…Oh but then…

King Neb lept to his feet in AMAZEMENT because walking around in the furnace were not the three men but FOUR!

This was the Pre-Incarnate Christ – JESUS!!!

God didn’t just save them – HE SHOWED UP!!!!

They came out of the furnace untouched.

What an amazingly cool story, huh? And it’s even more amazing because it actually happened!

Sisters, we serve a MIGHTY MIGHTY God. He sees all, hears all, knows all. 100% Sovereign. There is NOTHING that happens to you without His knowledge and His Will.

Matthew 10:29-31 says: “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s knowledge. And even the number of hairs on your heard are numbered. So do not be afraid, you are worth more than many sparrows.”

We can truly breathe in a peace because our Good Good Heavenly Father is in complete control.

If there is one single molecule in this universe running around loose, totally free of God’s sovereignty, then we have no guarantee that a single promise of God will ever be fulfilled. R. C. Sproul

There is no fiery furnace, heated 7 times hotter, no virus, no authority, and no trial that can thwart God.

NONE. NOTHING. NO ONE.

HE IS YAHWEH. LORD. THE BEGINNING AND THE END.

Breathe sister. Just breathe.

I know the book of Daniel well, but I so needed this reminder today. My parents are seriously unwell. We were told last week we may be losing our job and if we keep it they will move us across the state and away from my sickly parents. I was so overwhelmed last night I couldn’t sleep. I needed this. Thank you!! I feel like it was just for me.

    Jillian,
Though I know this story forward and backward, your fresh presentation was a blessing to me today. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m feeling the heat! I’m taking your words to heart and remembering Christ is with me. Thank you!
